Gafiate -to "Get Away From it All," commonly used in fandom to refer to someone's leaving fandom.
It is possible to gafiate for a while and then come back.
Briefly, when the term was first coined, it referred to finding fandom and getting away from the mundane world. But that meaning didn't last long.
