I got a good start on this section - I did better than I expected before running out of time. I still need to upload a section on Print Shop and a sample plan with discussion. I doubt I'll get to it much before November. I'm running an art show in 1.5 days (MileHiCon). --Brucemoko 00:01, 19 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Bruce, I'm incredibly ipressed! You have done a ton of work on this whole section, and you even have pictures working. Good going!

Two questions about this article: what about handicapped access, and what about fire egress? 6 foot aisles should be more thatn plenty for people in wheelchairs or on crutches to get around. And it should be enough to get people in and out quickly. But you might want to mention them explicitly as considerations. I could see some fire marshall getting panicky about a tight zig zag pattern if it is too close to a door. Or if the panels were so high you could not see the lit EXIT signs. This sort of thing always comes up for me at work.

Great job though. Tons of work well done. --Bill Taylor 07:51, 19 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Those are good points, which are addressed in in the rest of the article. Though now that you mention it, I might pull it out of the sample plan section and make it a section of its own. --Brucemoko 18:10, 19 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Something I noticed at Chicon2000 in the art show: Union Rules! As in, Something Went Wrong and the art show did not even start setup until the first day of the con. Dealer's room was the same. The Union in the hotel did not want the con or the dealer's setting up tables themselves (too dangerous for mere mortals!). And the Union was doing the work on their own schedule. They finished sometime in the afternoon, and it was a mad dash to hang things. Very frustrating. --Bill Taylor 19:29, 19 Oct 2005 (PDT)

"What the Chicon2000 art show did wrong" would be another long article. But what you're describing could well have been a failure in Facilities Liaison. At least, that's who dealt with decorators and unions at the previous Chicon in 1991 (and did it well, he says modestly). I do mention unions later, when discussing setup and lighting.

Whew! Think this section is pretty much done. Finally. Or is it long enough that it should be broken in two? --Brucemoko 11:45, 9 Nov 2005 (PST)
