It says "most conventions arrange a corkage waiver" ... that may be true, but I am unaware of *any* UK conventions that have done so for the convention as a whole (some Worldcons and other major cons have arranged a corkage waiver for a "party floor" or similar (e.g. the 2005 Glasgow Worldcon arranged with one of the hotels to have a big party area in their function space where people could bring in food and drink for the parties).

Should this be mentioned under Corkage or would it confuse those who don't think about non-US/non-North American conventions?

I have no idea what the situation is in Australia, New Zealand or anywhere else (though I think the UK experience is the same in the Republic of Ireland).

The German Filkcon I go to is in a Youth Hostel and they don't charge corkage as they don't sell food/drink aside from the meals that come as part of the accommodation price, so it doesn't affect their income.

The article should be as applicable as possible. If we need to qualify all or parts of it to make it fit for more people, so be it.
First we should introduce the concept and the necessity of Corkage, then subsections for details for different parts of the world and different kinds of events. --Bill Taylor 08:06, 27 March 2007 (PDT)
