* There is also the issue of incorrect or conflicting public information.  You're totally right about square footage exaggerations, and both of the hotel articles I authored start out with a correct number there for exactly that reason.  Concrete data on F&B expectations is indeed hard to find publicly and perhaps I should put some of that up, though I don't have the kind of data you have.  But I skip putting in info like your "Amenities" section until I have something to say about it that's not on the hotel's own web site, like what the hours of the spa and fitness center are. --[[User:Phi|phi]] 12:37, 3 January 2012 (PST)

There's no reason to conform to the pattern of the other hotel pages, but in case it was not obvious the intent of Westin Boston Waterfront and Hyatt Regency Cambridge is to contain everything I know about the hotels that is *not* available on their web site, with only enough publicly available information to glue it all together. phi 13:41, 20 December 2011 (PST)

  • I agree Phi, it would be good to have a consistent presentation. Do we know enough to make that happen for the new entries? --Bill Taylor 07:35, 21 December 2011 (PST)

I had been hoping to contain all of the "stats" in a sidebar, but this wiki doesn't seem to have any way to create sidebar templates.

A lot of basic information on certain hotels is actually difficult to obtain. I've never seen anyone average the food prices, or post seasonal high/low data. A lot of hotels overstate their sqft and include balcony sizes in their estimates as well. Ceiling height is another gotcha, but the worst one is out of date or altogether missing maps.

So be careful when to judge what is "publicly accessible" versus what is not. Some of the information that seems like it ought to be public isn't. --Sardines 18:46, 1 January 2012 (PST)
