Fans like to carry weapons as part of their Hall Costumes or in the Masquerade, but not only can they be dangerous if misused, they can make other attendees uncomfortable, so conventions tend to define weapons policies from the one line "the committee reserve to use your weapon against you", to the comprehensive Dublin 2019 Weapons Policy.
