The following tags should be placed on the article needing cleanup, not on its talk page. Unless otherwise noted, they should be added to the top of the article.

Some tags have alternate versions that should be used if the applicability of the tag is disputed.

Tag	Text that will be shown (and usage notes)
{{cleanup}} (category)	This applies to general problems not addressed by other tags. In the future, please use cleanup-date, below, instead.
{{cleanup-date|December 2024}} (category)	This article needs to be cleaned up to conform to a higher standard of quality. This article has been tagged since December 2024. See How to Edit and Style and How-to for help, or this article's talk page. This applies to general problems not addressed by other tags. Please do not use this in combination with the more specific cleanup tags. Please replace "December 2024" with the appropriate month and year. Note that there is a space between them.
{{cleanup-image}} (category)	This image needs to be cleaned up to conform to a higher standard of quality. For help, see the picture tutorial and our image use policy. This should be used for images that have artifacts, poor definition, poor lighting, or other visual flaws. Many of these images may need to be replaced entirely. Try listing on Wikipedia:Image recreation requests.

{{cleanup-verify}} (category)	This article contains information that is not verifiable. If you are familiar with the subject matter, please expand the article, citing sources.
{{cleanup-importance}} or {{explain significance}} (category1 category2)	This article lacks information on the subject matter's importance. If you are familiar with it, please expand the article, or discuss its significance on the talk page.
{{cleanup-context}} or {{context}} (category)	The introduction of this article does not provide enough context for readers unfamiliar with the subject. Please fix the introduction or article as you see fit.
{{technical}} (category)	This article may be too technical for most readers to understand. Please expand it to make it accessible to non-experts, without removing the technical details.
{{cleanup-tone}} (category)
{{confusing}} (category)	This article can be confusing for some readers, and needs to be edited for clarity. If you are familiar with the subject matter, please clarify the article, or discuss it on the talk page.
{{fiction}} (category)	This article does not make a clear distinction between fact and fiction. Please edit it according to the guidelines regarding fiction. This does not cover factual or accuracy disputes.
{{contradict}} (category)	Parts of this article contradict each other. Please see the relevant discussion on this article's talk page and fix it if you can.
{{cleanup-rewrite}} (category)	This article needs a complete rewrite for the reasons listed on the talk page.
{{notenglish}} (category)	This always should be supplemented by a note on Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English. This should be used only for articles that are completely or almost completely in a foreign language. Note that if the issue isn't dealt with in two weeks, the article goes to Votes for deletion.
{{cleanup-translation}} (category)	This article has been translated, and needs attention from someone approaching dual fluency. Please see its entry on ConRunner:Pages needing translation into English for discussion. If you are the person who just added this template, remember to add a note on ConRunner:Pages needing translation into English. This always should be supplemented by a note on Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English. This should be used for articles that still have translation issues, but have enough English-language content that they are not subject to deletion for that reason.

{{cleanup-nonsense}}	Template:Cleanup-nonsense This should be used if an article appears to be nonsense not covered by Patent nonsense speedy deletion rule (for example, a theory that appears to be pseudoscience presented without any explanation of context, scientific reaction, etc). This template should either be replaced with one of the above templates (usually cleanup-context or cleanup-confusing) or nominated for deletion in accordence with Wikipedia's deletion policies, but both should only be done by somebody familar with the subject area of the article.
