It says "most conventions arrange a corkage waiver" ... that may be true, but I am unaware of *any* UK conventions that have done so for the convention as a whole (some Worldcons and other major cons have arranged a corkage waiver for a "party floor" or similar (e.g. the 2005 Glasgow Worldcon arranged with one of the hotels to have a big party area in their function space where people could bring in food and drink for the parties).

Should this be mentioned under Corkage or would it confuse those who don't think about non-US/non-North American conventions?

I have no idea what the situation is in Australia.

The German Filkcon I go to is in a Youth Hostel and they don't charge corkage as they don't sell food/drink aside from the meals that come as part of the accommodation price, so it doesn't affect their income.
